March 28 Budget Update
We are under a storm watch for SNOW, so I wanted to get to Jewel and try and make a dent in my expireds, just in case it's true, and they won't be accepted next week.
My budget is suffering, but I'm buying things I wasn't anticipating on buying for months to come, so I'm freezing a lot of meat and bread, and buying juice and other drinks that are shelf stable, so I won't have to buy them in the coming months.
4 64oz Apple Juices
1 6oz Tyson Chicken Strips
2 Oscar Meyer Hot Dogs
4 16oz Chocolate Milks
1 box Charleston Chew Mini Candies (for those doing ww, it's FOURTEEN points for the box!!!)
1 package boneless Pork Chops
1 container Strawberry Cream Cheese
9 Yogurts
4 Frappuccino
1 Jewel brand Sausage Pizza
4 Sara Lee loaves Bread
I used two $10 mixer tags, four $2 mixer tags, a $3 winetag on the pizza, one 50¢ coupon (it was buy 6, get 1 free) on the yogurt, four free coupons for the bread, and my last $10 cat that was expired. My total oop was just $5!!
After I had checked out, I noticed there were mixers on sale for $2.50! White Russian, Mudslide, Pina Colada, etc... they were the little bottles that already had the alcohol included. I bought 8 of them, and used two $10 mixer tags, and paid just $2.30 which was all tax.

I wasn't kidding about the receipt!
Really, I just wanted a reason to show off Alyssa, my adorable two year old! ;-)
March 28 Budget Update
I went to Jewel twice today but somewhere in between, I lost my first receipt. It was $7.37 out of pocket, but I brought home a lot of great items for that price. When I find the receipt, I'll post the details.
My second trip, though, was amazing. Unfortunately, rumors are flying that Jewel will no longer be accepting expired coupons, so I spent a lot of time going through my coupons, and pulling ones that I wanted to make sure I used! Please keep in mind a lot of these are expired free coupons, or expired (or will be expired 3/31) winetags, and this isn't a typical shopping trip. Exciting, nonetheless, but not typical. ;-)
My receipt is about 3 feet long, so I'll explain what I purchased, and the coupons I used as I go, rather than summarizing it at the end! I'll post a picture of the receipt tomorrow, as well!
2 Apple Juice: $2, used $2 mixer tag
2 Pace Salsa: $3.99, used $4 manufacturer coupons
1 Vegetable Tray: $10.99, used $10 party platter wine tag
2 Red Baron Pizzas: $3.50, used $3 pizza wine tags
2 Dean's Ice Cream: $6.69, and on sale for buy 1, get 1 free. I used a free coupon from the freezer deal Jewel had in February, and got both for free.
1 Twelve Pack Coke: $3.37, used free coupon from My Coke Rewards
2 Glucerna Cereal: $3.99, used $5 internet coupons
2 Ronzoni Spaghetti Pouches, $2.99, and on sale for buy 1, get 1 free. I used a buy 1, get 1 free manufacturer coupon, and got both for free.
4 Huggies Cleanteam Travel Size Wipes, .64¢ clearanced, used $1 insert coupons
4 Del Monte Fruit Naturals, $1, used $1/2 coupons
4 Old Spice Shaving Creams, $2.12, used $2 wine tags on men's grooming products
4 Coffeemate Creamer, $2, used $1.50/2 internet coupons
4 Frappucino, $1.67, used mixer tag for each
1 small container of Parmesan Cheese, $1.29, no coupon
4 two liters soda, 99¢, used mixer tag for each
1 Hawaiian Punch, $2, used $2 mixer tag
1 Sara Lee Bread, $2.25, free when buying 2 bags of chips
2 Lays Chips, $3.29, used $1/2 tear pad coupon
8 Mac & Cheese Crackers, $1.50, used 55¢ coupon, received $6 instant discount for buying 8
1 South Beach bars, $3.99, used a free Catalina coupon received previously
My total number of items purchased was 52. My total amount of coupons was 42! My total preferred savings was $47.26, but my total manufacturer coupon savings was $101.61, for a grand total of $148.87 saved!!
My total out of pocket was $6.62, with $2.32 being tax. Four of the Mac & Cheese Crackers are being donated tomorrow, so 81¢ is not included in my out of pocket. The Ronzoni, Glucerna and South Beach bars are also being donated, but they were free, and tax was very small.
Total taken from my budget: $5.81

March 26 Budget Update
I'm over budget, but it's hard to pass up deals that are truly worth the money spent!
Meijer
1 Dozen Eggs
1 Coffee-Mate Creamer
1 Bagged Carrots
2.83# Grapes (great price at 99¢ a pound!)
5# Bag Potatoes
2 packages Ground Sirloin (this was marked 40% off, so just $2.39 for each package. i paid over $5 previously for the same stuff!)
The best deal, however, was the marked down deli meat!! As the counter is getting ready to close, the meat that has been cut is marked down to just $1 per pound!! I bought four pounds of turkey, and .76 pounds of ham, for just $4.76! This is the great stuff that is normally $4.99 for each pound!!!
My total was high for me at $20.08. I used a gift card for some, but still paid $14.24 oop. Ouch! But, I try to keep in mind these are things we needed, that are healthy, and it would have cost almost $25 for just the meat alone if I had gone during the day!

2 bags of Doritos
They were on sale for $1.88 each. My total oop was $3.80 for both.
Jewel
8 boxes of Mac & Cheese crackers
3 packages of Thomas' English Muffins
1 Gallon Milk
I used 55¢ coupons for each of the crackers, a $3/3 coupon on the English Muffins, and a $2 coupon on the milk. I saved $30.30 on preferred savings due to an in-store promo on the mac & cheese crackers, and paid just $3.18 oop. Silly me... I paid cash instead of using my cats!!! (I had had a very, very, very cranky child with me!) I did receive yet another survey coupon good for free french bread.
Subway
It had to be an easy night because the day was absolutely crazy!
$16.46 for three foot long subs!

March 21 Budget Update
I wanted to do the Kraft deal one more time, and as luck would have it, I found out before it ended that my food pantry I donate to could use more cheese!
I purchased 15 packages of string cheese, using cats I had previously earned, and paid a grand total of just $4.45! That's approximately 30¢ a package!! (This doesn't come out of my budget because I used funds we've allocated to Clare House from our Retire With Coupons workshops!)
I had only one personal transaction today!
1 box ice cream cones
1 dozen eggs
2 16oz strawberry milk
1 16oz chocolate milk
3 32oz chocolate milk
1 roll of Paper Towels
I used a $1 coupon on the paper towels making them free, a $10 mixer tag on all my chocolate milk (Chocolate Amaretto!), and had $1.80 in preferred savings. My total cost was $3.89 which I put on my giftcard.

What an amazing, crazy day & March 20 Budget Update
Well, you know those days where it just all seems to come at once? Today it was my turn. I was blessed with an opportunity to be interviewed by our local newspaper about couponing. I arrived at the store, and as soon as the newspaper crew arrived, I got a call from my kids' school telling me my daughter had thrown up on the bus, and I needed to pick her up! I called everyone on our "safe" list but wasn't able to find anyone available to go. The school, bless their hearts, said they'd keep her safe and resting until I could get there, so I could finish my interview!
The interview was done at Jewel in Normal (of course!!), and a lot of great, great questions were raised, and there were plenty of deals and great savings to show. My daughter is home resting, and of course is now feeling so much better! lol And, we even picked up some flowers for our amazing bus driver, whom we adore, who had to clean up the mess! Ick.
On to my shopping trip at Jewel... Some of these items were purchased to show how to find sales, stack with coupons, and utilize Catalina deals, and not necessarily things I would have purchased today, but as you know, what my family won't consume, we donate, so it's all a great deal in the end!
I purchased four packages of string cheese and a multi-pack of cookies for the Kraft catalina deal. I bought 2% cheese to double dip on the catalina offers. I then did the Heinz deal for $4 off instantly when you buy $15 worth. I bought a bag of french fries, two jars of pasta sauce, and four bagel bites. I also had a free coupon for Baldwin ice cream I received from the freezer deal, and they were buy 1, get 1 free, so I got both for free. I then took advantage of the Kellogg's deal buying 10 cereal for $25, and then getting the instant $10 off, so each box was just $1.50. For buying 7 of those cereals, though, I also received three additional catalinas for a free gallon of milk good on your next purchase!
I used coupons for my pasta sauce, each box of bagel bites, and used the free coupon on the ice cream. I also used a coupon for each box of cereal. I used $28 in catalinas that I earned previously doing these types of deals, and used my gift card to pay just $1.99 for everything! I then earned back another set of $13 in cats, and three cats good on a free gallon of milk! Awesome!! So, considering my $13 in cats, plus approx. $6 in value for the milk, my total for all of this was essentially $10.99!

March 14 Budget Update
I started at Target today, and then visited two different Jewel stores. After leaving the stores today, I decided to really pick and choose my stores carefully, to fully evaluate if we're needing all of the items, what more I can donate, and really try to cut back on visiting stores that I find aren't as coupon friendly as others... I'd really like to give my money to a store that appreciates their customers, and the amount of sales they get because of my purchases.
With that said, Target was awesome!
I bought two six packs of Mott's Applesauce. I used two $1 off Target Store coupons, and two 55¢ off manufacturer coupons! They were only $1.69 each, so my total oop was just 29¢!
Jewel Store #1
1 package of Oscar Meyer deli meat
3 Nabisco Munch Packs
2 Pepsi 2 Liters
2 boxes of Spaghetti
I used two pasta wine tags, two mixer tags on the soda, and $8 in cats. My total was 73¢, but I used my gift card, so no oop. I earned back a $10 cat for buying the deli meat and munch packs.
My second order included:
4 packages of Bottled Water
4 Kraft Shredded Cheese
4 packages of Trail Mix
I used coupons on the water, and $13 in cats. My total was just 23¢, paid for with my gift card. I earned back $13 for buying the cheese and trail mix.
Jewel Store #2
4 packages of Bottled Water
2 Grape Crush 2 Liter
1 Individual Roll Toilet Paper
2 twelve packs Sprite
1 twelve pack Coke
1 package Sun Chips
I have coupons for the water, and a mixer tag for the soda. I used a $5 cat, and put $1.92 on my gift card. I had to pay 14¢ oop.

March 11 Budget Update
I did several transactions today. When I have an opportunity to shop without all three kids, I try and take advantage of the time as it's much harder, due to distractions, when they are all with me.
#1
4 packages of bottled water
1 bottle of Orange Fruit Punch
1 bottle of Lipton Tea
1 bottle of Fruit Punch

Going out for food this week!
I've been out three times this week for food, which cost a pretty penny to my budget!
3/10 I went to IHOP for a lunch meeting. I didn't order for myself, but did order milk and scrambled eggs for my daughter... it cost $3.81 out of pocket! Yikes.
3/13 I ran to Mcdonalds for lunch as I was literally back to back in appointments and meetings. (I hate those rushed days.) I had two free coupons for hamburgers, so Alyssa and I had one each, and shared some fries. Total cost oop was $1.10.
3/13 My birthday is right around the corner, and I received a buy 1, get 1 free coupon for a blizzard, so my dh and I splurged. My cost oop was $3.72.

Couponing the RIGHT Way!
I would like to just reiterate that if you are using coupons, please use them the way they are supposed to be used. Don't make up your own rules, and don't do something you know you shouldn't be doing! And, if you choose to do something you know you shouldn't do, or you aren't sure you should do, don't blame anyone else if you're questioned. All you need to do is ask someone who knows the coupon policies before you use the coupons!
For those of us that do use coupons responsibly, and who use them as they are to be used, and ask questions if you are unsure, we thank you!

March 8 Budget Update

Oh my goodness... just a deal I didn't need! ICE CREAM, and Breyers Ice Cream, no less!
At my local Meijer, Breyers Strawberry Cheesecake Ice Cream is ringing up at 91¢! I bought two of them, and used a $1/2 coupon from http://www.meijermealbox.com/. By using the coupon, they were just 42¢ each for a half gallon of ice cream! I also bought one chocolate bar, and whipped topping for an amazing sundae! My total cost for everything was just $3.09, but I used my gift card earned previously for no out of pocket!
(Thanks Jenn, my partner in crime with RWC, and Jill, my friend from our children's school, for giving me that nudge to get in on this deal!)

I apologize for the delay... the weather front really knocked me down with a terrible sinus infection and horrible headache! I felt like my head was going to explode all weekend! I'm feeling a bit better, and wanted to catch up before I headed out tomorrow for some more deals!

March 3 Budget Update
I went to Jewel today to take full advantage of their new P&G and Pepsi Catalina deal. I did several transactions, but here's my final breakdown.
4 Sobe Drinks
12 Crest Toothpaste
3 package Pampers Diapers (regular price $12.49!)
4 two liters Soda
6 twelve packs Soda
2 64oz containers of Fruit Punch
1 box Stovetop Stuffing
My total cost was $8.28. I used coupons for the 12 packs of soda, the pampers, and the crest. I had a $5 catalina I earned previously, so I used that on my first transaction, and made sure to buy enough product to earn back my $5 each time. So, I essentially rolled a $5 catalina on each of my five transactions. On my final transaction, I also used one $2 catalina earned previously, and earned back my final $5 catalina to use next time! I also received a survey for more free french bread! I used my final $4.50 gift card credit, so my total out of pocket was just $3.78.
My receipts show a total saved of $115.20!!

March 1 Budget Update
I'm always glad when the new month arrives as my $150 starts over, but I always tend to spend a lot on the first day, especially if I'm purchasing wine tags or other great coupons!
I spent $66 out of pocket on a trade for wine tags... beverage tags, party platter tags, mixer tags... all kinds of goodies that will probably allow me to stock up for many months to come!
I also did a bit of shopping today!
Walmart
1.02lbs Tomatoes
1 bag of Potatoes
2 packages of Shredded Lettuce
2.28lbs Bananas
1 package Hot Dogs
I had a $10 gift card from MyPoints, so I only spent $1.43 out of pocket.
Jewel
13 (yes, thirteen) twelve packs of Pepsi Products
2 bags of Tostitos
1 jar of Queso Dip
2 Gallons Milk
1 container of Lemonade
I used three $10 wine tags, a free coupon for the Queso, and paid $11.78 with my gift card. I paid $4.09 out of pocket. In looking over my receipt, I think I could have used four wine tags, making my total much less... I'm not sure how I missed that, although I did have a child with me which usually causes some level of distraction! I did receive 3 $5 cats for buying the pepsi and tostito products!
Jewel
4 packages of Ice Mountain Water
.47lbs of Yellow Squash
2 packages Shredded Mozz. Cheese
1 package Doritos
3lbs Onions
6 Crest Pro Health Toothpaste
1 Sobe Water
4 twelve packs Pepsi Products
I used two $10 wine tags for the beverages, $1.50 coupons for each Crest, three $2 catalinas earned previously for buying the water, and a $5 catalina earned previously for buying the soda. My total out of pocket was just $1.97. I earned three $5 cats for purchasing the soda and toothpaste, and two $2 cats for purchasing the water, for a total of $19 back!
