Brown Bag Project

The objective of the Brown Bag Project is to give the gift of food to those who are hungry. Take a needy family a meal or donate to a local food bank on 11/21/09.

November 21st is right around the corner! What can we do to help others? Donate to a pantry, give to friends or family members who may be struggling. Buy a dinner or give food to someone who may be homeless. There are a lot of things we can do to help others! What are you going to do?

2009 Challenge

My 2009 Challenge was to keep my monthly spending at a target of $150 per month. My average from January-June ended up being $182.82. It's actually higher due to meals out, and special purchases that didn't make it into the blog, so I'd assume my average is a bit over $200 month. However, for a family of five, with a toddler in diapers, and two pets, that's pretty awesome indeed!

January Spending: $175.01
February Spending: $197.67
March Spending: $207.96
April Spending: $190.35
May Spending: $188.11
June Spending: $137.79

I had intended to do this for all of 2009, but I've decided I'd like to focus more on the business side of things, and not worry about all the details for every shopping trip. I'll still post the deals I'm getting, but won't post all the nitty gritty items all the time! I'd love for this to become a more interactive blog, and welcome your questions, comments, and your own shopping success stories!
